Namibia Mourns: President Hage Geingob Passes Away at 82
Namibia’s President Hage Geingob, an independence struggle veteran, died at 82 while undergoing medical treatment for cancer in Windhoek.
His death prompted Vice-President Nangolo Mbumba’s swift inauguration as his successor until upcoming elections. Geingob, in office since 2015, played a pivotal role in Namibia’s constitution.
Global leaders, including South Africa’s Cyril Ramaphosa, lauded his liberation efforts. Geingob lived in exile for 27 years, returning before Namibia’s independence in 1990.
